- Last night I saw Mumford and Sons at the venue formerly known as the Xcel Energy Center. The band did well (I liked their first couple of albums, but not a superfan), but let me complain for a moment about this venue.
It has to be the worst in Minnesota, with its minuscule seats and nonexistent cupholders. We all know why they sacrificed comfort ($$$), but it is so annoying that they did that.
That said, I liked the floor tile in the women's bathroom. I made a background of it that you can find here. Make your website look like the perpetually damp bathroom floor of a hockey arena!
- Remembering today a rumor that went around the 3rd grade classes an elementary school I attended: Kim Vo wrote fuck on every page of the Bible.
Wherever Kim is today, I hope she's still a grade A baddie.
- I came across a thread on Reddit that listed a bunch of bloggers from the 2000s-2010s heyday of blogging.
As a teenager and young adult, I loved reading blogs back then. Every kind: mommy blogs, home decor blogs, DIY blogs, and especially fashion blogs. It was so fun to see how regular people from different walks of life lived, and to get inspired by their creativity.
Even though you can still do that now, it just isn't the same. People weren't as focused on earning money back then. I miss when people used to earnestly share funky outfit photos or batshit home decor choices.*
The reason I bring it up is because I've been trying to remember a particular fashion blogger for years and finally found her in that thread: Childhood Flames. The Stylish Wanderer was another one I was reminded of. At the time, it seemed so novel for teenagers to be featured in magazines for their outfit posts. Wild how that feels normal now.
Anyway, I'd love to follow some bloggers/non-Instagram people who post their outfits here in 2025. On Neocities, shnu world has been posting some fun fits lately. Does anyone know of anyone else?
This week the book distributor Baker and Taylor closed their doors after almost 200 years. I'm not sure how or if it'll affect me (I work in publishing), but I feel for all of the people who lost their jobs.
I know almost nothing about the situation (I'm a lowly editor, not privy to financial conversations), but I'm sure greedy private equity groups had something to do with it. Regardless, I'm sure it'll have some ripple effects that will impact lots of people.
- Read this article today that says women aged 28 and younger are the most liberal group in the U.S. Hell yeah. Break down doors, Gen Z women.
* I am not having any luck finding a photo, but I still think about Young House Love's insane bedroom horse art.
