Stuff This Week #2

March 9, 2025

Here’s a list of stuff I found interesting around the internet this past week:
  • Should David Wood be executed? - Convicted of a series of kilings in the 1980s, David Wood is set to be executed this week. But there is reason to believe that he may not have done it.

As someone against capital punishment in all cases, I will be following this story this week.

  • "The vulva is not origami." - The first section of this blog post from Mimi Smartypants reminded me of The Turgid Bud, my free idea for a website that catalogs gross language used in romance novels.

By the way, if you enjoy reading well-written, interesting blogs, you could do a lot worse than Mimi Smartypants. She's been online forever. Even as a 15-year-old, I found myself drawn into her posts about her life.

  • A compelling argument against getting a gun. - If you, like me, are living in the U.S. and feeling more than a little worried about the state of things, you might have considered buying a firearm.

This article details some reasons why you might not want to, including the (for me) compelling fact that all of this benefits gun manufacturers, who stand to profit from our fear and welcome dissenters to 47 as new customers.

  • Cheetozard. - A Charizard-shaped Cheeto that sold for almost $90,000.

  • The unusual and unaccountable things a salmon does. - Century-old photographs of anglers from the fishes' point of view.
