Best of 2025

January 5, 2026

In my Best of 2024 post, I started off by sharing a bit about how my year went. I don't have as much to say this year. I took a trip (a cruise, which I hope to never do again) in the spring, had a busy summer doing stuff, had a busy fall doing even more stuff, and eventually found some time to rest.

I want to rest more this year, and spend more time doing things that are truly important to me. I might need to say no more, which is hard for me.

In 2026, I'm not particularly interested in continuing to keep a media log in this website. I still will for now, but it might go away at some point. I'm certainly doing away with the nonsensical Furby rating system. Mainly because I want to have fewer moving images on this website.

Anyway, here were some of my favorite things this year. Note that they weren't necessarily released this year. I just happened to read or watch them in 2025.

Favorite Movie

The Last Showgirl

My favorite movie that I saw in 2025 was the first I saw in that year. It's a drama starring Pamela Anderson as an aging Vegas showgirl who must figure out what to do after her show closes.

There are a lot of reasons to like this movie, but I loved it because it resonated with me on a personal level. It reminded me of my mom. At the time that I saw it, I was going to write a whole post about it. But I never did because I was weird about actually writing on this website last January. Still might. Probably won't.

Anyway, I recommend this if you're in the mood for a good drama.

Favorite Horror Movie

Weapons

Sadly, 2025 was not as strong in this area as 2024. I guess I give it to Weapons, but I didn't see many other horror movies that were worthy of consideration.

Favorite Book

Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler

I'm sad to say I didn't read much in 2025. I finally read Parable, so I suppose I will give my highly coveted top prize to that book.

Favorite TV Show

Severance

This was probably the only show I was looked forward to in 2025. For me, it did not disappoint. Runner up: Somebody Somewhere

Favorite Zine

Stoogian Magika: An examination of magic systems within The Three Stooges Universe by Black Soup Comics

I bought a bunch of odd handmade shit from some some people on Reddit this year. This was one of those things. I am indifferent on the Three Stooges, but I love projects by people who aren't afraid to get weird with it.

Favorite Concert

Viagra Boys

This was fun. No notes.
