Tasteful and Understated Michael Simon Sweaters for Fall

How long has it been since the last time I posted about Michael Simon? I don't know for sure, but I'll tell you anyway: too long. It's been too long since we've gathered together to admire the work of madman knitwear genius Michael Simon.

We may not have gathered, but I certainly have not stopped looking. I have email alerts set from several different marketplaces. I am looking for my holy grails. I am also looking for any item I haven't seen before. Just when I think I've seen it all, a new one pops up and I am reminded again of the majesty of this universe.

Today I bring you some of the most glorious Halloween and fall-themed Michael Simon sweaters that you should add to your closet post haste. Here you go, and you're welcome:

Checkerboard Halloween Cardigan

Michael Simon's checkerboard designs are 10/10 fantastic. I like the striped squares and the checkerboard-within-a-checkerboard squares. That, plus the fun color scheme, plus the delightful felt pumpkins? Fantastic.

I happen to own this one, and I can't tell you how delighted I am to finally be able to wear it this month.

Here's another checkerboard design that I also love:

Sunflower Cardigan

This one is so cute! You can wear it throughout the fall. Or if you're me (if I owned it; sadly I do not), you can wear it year-round. I love the mix of techniques here: knitted leaves in the background, felt leaves in the foreground, embroidered sunflowers, and beaded sunflower seeds. May we all have such detailed sweaters.

If you're for some reason a sunflower hater, you might like this one instead:

And here's another. To be honest, the dangling acorns are kind of disturbing to me:

Celestial Halloween Cardigan

This looks like something Dani from Hocus Pocus would wear. Total 90s vibes. I love it, and if there was one listed in my size I'd be figuring out how to scrounge up enough pennies to buy it.

This starry pumpkin patch cardigan is a little more understated if you're a beige mom looking to get crazy 🤪 this Halloween:

Haunted House Cardigan

Turn your torso into a haunted house. What wonders await beneath the buttons?

This one has similar vibes and is even more jolly. I'm a candy corn hater, but I like those buttons.

Trick or Treat Cardigan

What fun! Maybe you can slip a Tootsie Roll into each of those dangling buckets for a little snack.

Thanksgiving Top

I'm kind of a Thanksgiving hater (I only go for the mashed potatoes), so you won't catch me in a turkey outfit. But if you enjoy the holiday, maybe you want to wear the bird you're about to gorge on in sequins. I'm not gonna judge you. Plus, the leaves are nice.

Or if you want something more risqué to make a statement to Aunt Linda, how about a beaded turkey coming out of your cleavage?

Costumed Freaks Cardigan

These guys look mischievous. I'm not sure how I feel about them, but I like the idea.

Jack-O'-Lantern Cardigan

Awww, they all look so happy. I like the one-toothed one on the shoulder.

Here's another one of the jack-o'-lanterns all lit up at night:

And here's a crochet option if you wanna take a stand in the war of fiber art supremacy. I like the open spaces. Imagine the layering possibilities:

Witch Vest

I don't know what to say. This thing is insane.

If you want a Halloween-themed vest but don't want to look like you've lost your mind, maybe this demure black cat vest will do it for you:

Autumn Farm Cardigan

An idyllic pastoral scene for you. Wear it to Thanksgiving, wear it to the grocery store, wear it to your job as a kindergarten teacher.

The scene is not my favorite, but it has good detail. And you rarely see a Michael Simon knit in this shade of green. I'm here for it.

Sequined Cat Sweater

What happens when you cross a black cat on Halloween? Ultra riches, probably. I don't know, but I like that this doesn't use the typical black-and-orange combo.

Spider Web Cardigan

The webs are great, but the fabulous bejeweled spiders are the real showstopper here.

I also like this cardigan, and it's probably a lot more wearable for most people. Big fan of the mesh sleeves:

Frog Cardigan

Look at this thing. Look at it! It's one of the most deranged Michael Simon designs I have seen. I love it. I hate it. I need it.
